The 10th Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was admitted to AIIMS on Monday and his condition is very critical now. The first non Congress member to serve India as Prime Minister for full term. He was bed-ridden since 2009 and was admitted to hospital last night.AIIMS said the former PM has been “diagnosed with a urinary tract infection” for which appropriate treatment is being given. The senior leader of BJP Vajpayee, who is diabetic and has only one functional kidney, suffered a stroke in 2009 which affected his cognitive abilities. The sources in AIIMS described the condition of Atal ji as “critical”, with his sole kidney and lung performing at their lowest capacity. At age 93, Vajpayee is currently the oldest living former Indian Prime Minister.
