Gambhir, the current captain of Delhi’s IPL franchise bids adieu to Cricket on Tuesday. Gambhir who termed his career as satisfactory with two World Cup finals posted his decision in social media.
Gambhir’s retirement was expected after his debacle performance in IPL 2018. But he kept on and finally made it official. He is currently playing Ranji trophy with Andhra. His final match will be the same on Thursday at his home ground Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
His career lost 15 years. He played his last test match with England at Rajkot in 2016. His T20 and one day career ended much earlier. Finally, Gambhir said that his career could have been much better, but ended as “Satisfactory”.
There are speculations about his political entry. He already has a career as host and commentator. Delhi released Gambhir from their franchise and declared Shreyas Iyer as the new captain. Also, the team’s name changed to “Delhi Capitals”.
